
Patients of Northwell Health between Jan. 1, 2020, and July 25, 2024, may be eligible to submit a claim for up to $15 and/or a year of privacy monitoring from a class action settlement.
Northwell Health Inc. agreed to pay several million dollars to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it disclosed patients’ personally identifiable information to third-party companies, such as Google and Meta, through tracking technologies without permission and in violation of state and federal laws.
Who can file a claim?
The class action settlement includes two specific groups of Northwell Health patients:
- Subclass 1: All patients of Northwell Health who logged into the Northwell FollowMyHealth patient portal between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2023, or who booked an appointment on Northwell’s website (northwell.edu) during the same period
- Subclass 2: All other patients of Northwell Health between Jan. 1, 2020, and July 25, 2024, who are not included in Subclass 1
How much is the settlement payout?
Class members can submit a claim to receive one or more of the following:
- Subclass 1: Class members can submit a claim to receive a $15 cash payment and one year of privacy monitoring services.
- Subclass 2: Class members can submit a claim to receive one year of privacy monitoring services.
How to claim a class action rebate
To receive settlement benefits, class members can file a claim online or download and print the PDF claim form to complete and mail to the settlement administrator.

Northwell Health settlement fund breakdown
The settlement fund includes:

When is the Northwell Health pixel settlement payout date?
The settlement administrator will issue payments and privacy monitoring codes to approved claimants approximately 150 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement.
Why did this class action settlement happen?
The class action lawsuit alleged Northwell Health Inc. disclosed patient information to third parties, which included Meta and Google, via tracking technologies without consent, violating privacy laws like the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.
Northwell denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the uncertainty and cost of continued litigation and a possible trial.
