Consumers who called HealthComp LLC’s toll-free numbers from within California between Jan. 24, 2022, and Jan. 24, 2023, and had their call recorded may qualify to claim a cash payment from a class action settlement.

HealthComp LLC agreed to pay $2.3 million to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging it recorded telephone calls without the consent of all parties and in violation of California law.

Who can file a HealthComp claim?

Class members must meet all of the following criteria:

  • They made a call from a cellular phone to one of HealthComp LLC’s toll-free numbers: 1-800-442-7247 or 1-855-727-5267.
  • The call took place between Jan. 24, 2022, and Jan. 24, 2023.
  • They were physically located in California at the time of the call.
  • HealthComp recorded the call.

Class members who received a notice about this settlement by mail or email may be a class member, according to HealthComp’s records. However, those who did not receive a notice may still submit a claim if they meet the above criteria.

Each class member is limited to one claim regardless of how many qualifying calls they made during the class period.

How much can class members get?

Pro rata payment: The payment will be a one-time, pro rata distribution. Each eligible class member who submits a valid and timely claim form will receive a cash payment. The total settlement fund is $2.3 million. From this amount, there will be deductions for attorneys’ fees, litigation costs, administration costs and a service award to the class representative. The remaining balance will be distributed equally among all approved claimants.

If any funds remain after 180 days (for example, due to uncashed checks), the remaining amount will be distributed 50% to the Alliance for Children’s Rights and 50% to the UCLA School of Law – Public Interest Law & Policy Program.
