Current or former patients of Catholic Health System who logged into the CHS MyChart patient portal or received treatment from Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 11, 2025, may qualify to submit a claim for up to $20 or a year of privacy monitoring from a class action settlement.

Catholic Health System Inc. agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it improperly disclosed patients’ personally identifiable information to Meta and other third parties without authorization. The plaintiffs claimed these disclosures violated state and federal privacy laws.

Who can file a claim for a payout?

The settlement has two groups of class members:

  • Settlement subclass 1: All current or former patients who logged into CHS’s MyChart patient portal between Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 11, 2025
  • Settlement subclass 2: All other current or former patients or individuals who sought and/or received treatment from CHS during the qualifying period but did not log into MyChart

How much can class members get?

Class members can submit to receive one of the following benefits:

  • Settlement subclass 1: Class members can submit a claim to receive a cash payment of up to $20. The settlement administrator will determine the final payment amount by the total number of claims filed.
  • Settlement subclass 2: Class members can submit a claim to receive 12 months of privacy monitoring through a Dashlane premium plan valued at $96. This includes dark web monitoring, VPM for encrypted data and IP masking, private search engine, password management, automatic data broker removal requests and encrypted document storage.

Why did this class action settlement happen?

CHS denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid the expense and cost of further litigation and a possible file.
