Aln Medical Management $4M Data Breach Settlement

Individuals who received a notice stating the March 2024 Aln Medical Management LLC data incident could have impacted their private information may be eligible to submit a claim for up to $5,000 and other benefits from a class action settlement.

Aln Medical Management agreed to pay $4 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it failed to adequately protect sensitive personal and medical information, resulting in unauthorized access to files containing private information.

Who can file a claim?

Class members are individuals residing in the United States who received a notice from Aln Medical Management stating the data incident that occurred in March 2024 may have impacted their private information.

How much can class members get?

Class members have the following options:

  • Cash payment A – Documented losses: Settlement class members may claim up to $5,000 for actual, documented, unreimbursed losses that are fairly traceable to the March 2024 data incident. They must provide reasonable third-party documentation showing the losses were more likely than not caused by the data incident. Self-prepared documents alone are not sufficient.
  • Cash payment B – Alternate cash payment: As an alternative to documented losses, settlement class members may elect to receive a cash payment estimated at $50. Claimants who do not submit documentation for documented losses may choose this option.
  • Medical data monitoring: In addition to a cash payment, settlement class members may elect to receive one year of CyEx’s Medical Shield Complete. The service includes one-bureau credit monitoring, medical identity monitoring, real-time alerts, dark web monitoring and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.

The settlement administrator may increase or decrease cash payments on a pro rata basis depending on the number of valid claims and the amount available in the net settlement fund.

Why is there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged that between March 18 and March 24, 2024, an unauthorized party accessed systems within Aln Medical Management’s third-party hosted environment, resulting in unauthorized access to files containing private information such as names, Social Security numbers, government-issued identification numbers, financial information, medical information and health insurance information.

Aln Medical Management denies the allegations but agreed to settle to avoid the expense, risk, and uncertainty of continued litigation.
