Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Tekni-Plex operates internationally with facilities in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The company is known for producing items such as foam egg cartons, pharmaceutical blister packs, medical tubing and various specialty extrusions.

What happened?

In November 2024, Tekni-Plex discovered a data breach that impacted both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). The cyberattack was reportedly caused by a ransomware attack carried out by a group known as RansomHub, who claimed to have obtained 424 GB of company data and threatened to publish it on the dark web.

The breach was also posted on the dark web on Dec. 13, 2024, with sample screenshots provided by the attackers. TekniPlex conducted an investigation and began mailing written notification to impacted individuals on Sept. 24, 2025.

  • Social Security number
  • Financial information, such as account number, credit or debit card number
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

The company disclosed the data breach to the Maine, Massachusetts, Texas and Vermont Attorneys' General offices between Sept. 24 and Sept. 26, 2025. Affected individuals includes at least 970 people in Texas and 57 in Massachusetts.
