What happened?
On July 3, 2025, Meridian Valley Laboratories discovered suspicious activity on certain systems in its network. An investigation revealed that a cybercriminal gained access to the company’s network between May 30, 2025, and July 3, 2025, and downloaded certain files.
The hacked files contained both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). The total number of individuals has not been released yet, but is believed to be in the thousands. The lab is conducting a review and will be notifying impacted consumers by mail.
Meridian Valley Lab published a Notice of Data Privacy Event on its website and the cybersecurity incident to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Aug. 29, 2025.
