What Happened?
In August 2025, Marquis Software Solutions experienced a significant data breach. On Aug. 14, 2025, Community 1st Credit Union was notified of a data breach at Marquis, which serves as a third-party vendor for direct and digital marketing services.
Initially, it was unclear if sensitive information was involved, but later investigations confirmed that nonpublic personal information related to credit union members was included in the breach. According to the notice filed with the Iowa Attorney General, 6,511 Iowa residents were affected by this breach so far. However, the breach may be more severe, as Marquis serves hundreds of banking institutions in the U.S.
Oy Oct. 27, 2025, Marquis notified Community 1st about the data breach and confirmed that sensitive member information had been accessed. The exposed data appears to be from records provided to Marquis prior to 2020.
