What Happened?

On March 25, 2026, Gainwell Technologies and the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) discovered that an unauthorized third party had accessed certain Hartford HealthCare payment accounts on the HUSKY provider portal website.

The breach occurred on March 4, 2026. The threat actor used compromised credentials belonging to Hartford HealthCare employees to gain access to user accounts and download files containing patient information.

Information relating to approximately 22,500 individuals was exposed.

Information Exposed:

  • Full names
  • Identification numbers associated with Hartford HealthCare accounts or Medicaid claims
  • Dates of medical services
  • Information about services received and how they were billed
  • Payment information, including amounts paid
  • Information about applicable non-Medicaid health insurance, including policy and group numbers

It is important to note that Social Security numbers and financial account information were not involved, as that data was not available in the affected system.
