What Happened?
On July 16, 2025, a malicious threat actor gained unauthorized access to a third-party, cloud-based CRM system used by Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. The breach was discovered the following day, July 17.
According to Allianz Life, the attacker used a social engineering technique to obtain personally identifiable data related to the majority of Allianz Life’s customers, financial professionals, and select employees.
The breach was severe enough to immediately notify the FBI. Allianz Life began the process of reaching out to impacted individuals and has stated the notifications will begin on August 1st.
