Title Guaranty Company of Lewis County, a locally owned title and escrow company based in Chehalis, Washington, recently experienced a data breach that has raised concerns for individuals involved in real estate transactions across Lewis County and the state.

The breach, which occurred between Dec. 24 and Dec. 26, 2025, involved unauthorized access to a limited number of the company’s internal systems. The incident was discovered on Dec. 26, 2025, prompting an investigation and response.

The Sinobi ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack on Jan. 18, 2026, stating they had obtained 50 gigabytes of sensitive data, including financial information, customer records and contracts. Sinobi threatened to publish this data within seven days if their demands were not met.

According to the official notice filed with the Washington Attorney General’s office, the breach exposed sensitive personal information, including full names, Social Security numbers (or EIN numbers), and driver’s licenses.

The exact number of individuals affected in Washington has not been disclosed.

Upon discovering the breach, Title Guaranty Company of Lewis County took steps to secure their systems and launched a thorough investigation with the assistance of IT consultants and vendors. The company also notified the FBI as part of its response.

Affected individuals have been advised to remain vigilant by enrolling in credit monitoring, considering placing a fraud alert on their credit files and monitoring their financial accounts for suspicious activity. The company’s notice includes contact information for the three major credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax.
