Texas Mutual Data Breach Affects 2k: Medical Information Exposed

Texas Mutual Insurance Co., the leading workers' compensation insurance provider in Texas, disclosed a data breach that exposed sensitive personal and protected health information.

The breach was reported to the Texas Attorney General on Sept. 3, 2026, with 2,065 Texas residents identified as affected. An additional disclosure filed on Sept. 29, 2026, identified 265 Texas residents as impacted. It remains unclear if the updated total reflects an additional number of individuals impacted or the total number of impacted individuals.

The personally identifiable information exposed in the breach included names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers and government-issued identification numbers such as passports or state ID cards.

The breach also exposed protected health information, including medical information and health insurance information.
