Superior Drywall Inc., a non-union commercial drywall contractor based in Fall River, Massachusetts, disclosed a data breach that occurred in January 2026.
The breach was first disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on June 12, 2026, with 730 Massachusetts residents identified as affected.
The breach was caused by a ransomware attack that targeted Superior Drywall's computer network. Between Jan. 9 and Jan. 12, 2026, unauthorized attackers accessed the company's network and viewed files.
Shortly after the intrusion, a ransomware group known as Safepay claimed responsibility for the attack. On Jan. 24, 2026, the group posted on the Tor network claiming it had obtained the company's data.
After a thorough review of affected documents, Superior Drywall determined on May 22, 2026, that personal information may have been subject to unauthorized acquisition during the January intrusion.
The types of personal information exposed in the breach included names, driver's license numbers, financial account information and Social Security numbers.
Superior Drywall is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection through Experian IdentityWorks. Each affected individual received a unique activation code and an enrollment deadline in their notification letter.
Superior Drywall has set up a dedicated toll-free response line at 888-500-5569 for anyone with questions about the incident. The line is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding major U.S. holidays.
