
Spokane Digestive Disease Center, P.S., a gastroenterology and internal medicine practice in Spokane, Washington, disclosed a data breach that affected 2,093 Washington residents.
The company reported the breach to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on April 20, 2026, and to the Washington Attorney General on May 26, 2026. The company began sending notification letters to affected individuals on May 26, 2026.
On Feb. 19, 2026, Spokane Digestive Disease Center became aware of suspicious activity related to an employee's email account. The company secured its email environment and launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the activity.
The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor had accessed the employee's email account on certain dates between Jan. 22, 2026, and Feb. 18, 2026. The review of the affected files was completed on May 8, 2026.
The types of information that may have been exposed included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license or state identification card numbers, financial account information, credit card information, electronic signatures and medical information.
Spokane Digestive Disease Center is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Experian IdentityWorks at no cost. The services include credit monitoring on Experian's credit file, identity restoration support and $1 million in identity theft insurance.
Affected individuals must enroll by Aug. 31, 2026, to activate the monitoring services.
Individuals who received a notification letter can enroll online or contact Experian's customer care team at 1-833-918-7291, available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time, excluding holidays.
