
REIC Rentals LLC, a super-regional equipment rental company also known as Rental Equipment Investment Corp., disclosed a data breach that occurred in early February 2026.
REIC became aware of unusual activity on certain systems in its network and began an investigation. The investigation determined that an unauthorized party accessed the network and accessed or opened certain files between Feb. 3, 2026, and Feb. 5, 2026.
After detecting the suspicious activity, REIC worked to identify and review the impacted data. The preliminary review was completed on Feb. 23, 2026.
The types of personal information potentially exposed in the breach included names and Social Security numbers.
The total number of individuals affected nationwide was not disclosed. REIC began notifying affected consumers on or about April 7, 2026. The breach was also disclosed to the Nebraska Attorney General.
REIC is offering affected individuals complimentary access to Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring services for 12 months.
To enroll, affected individuals should visit the Experian IdentityWorks enrollment page and enter the activation code included in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed by June 30, 2026, after which the activation code will expire.
