Padget Technologies Data Breach Compromises SSNs

Padget Technologies Inc., a privately held industrial automation company based in Cedar Falls, Iowa, disclosed a data breach that affected the personal information of current and former employees.

On June 4, 2026, Padget Technologies became aware of suspicious activity within its systems. The company engaged external cybersecurity specialists and launched a full investigation into the nature, scope and impact of the activity.

The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized actor accessed and copied limited files from certain Padget Technologies computer systems on June 4, 2026. The company then conducted a comprehensive review of the affected files to determine whether they contained sensitive information and to identify the individuals whose data was involved.

On June 25, 2026, before the company had completed its review, the ransomware group known as Akira posted a claim on the Tor network stating it had obtained data from Padget Technologies.

The group claimed to have accessed a broad range of company information, including employee personal documents such as driver's licenses, Social Security numbers and W-9 forms. Akira also claimed to have obtained payment details, NDAs, projects, contracts and agreements, client information and other sensitive materials.

The types of consumer information that Padget Technologies confirmed as present in the affected files included names and Social Security numbers.

The breach was reported to the Nebraska Attorney General. Padget Technologies began notifying consumers on July 23, 2026.

Padget Technologies' response to the breach

Padget Technologies is providing affected individuals with 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX.

Affected individuals can enroll in the IDX services by visiting the IDX enrollment page or by calling the company's dedicated assistance line at 1-833-788-9712. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Time, excluding holidays. The deadline to enroll is Oct. 23, 2026.
