
Hunter Associates, an independent, employee-owned wealth management firm headquartered in Pittsburgh, reported a data breach that exposed sensitive personal and financial information belonging to its clients.
The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. Hunter Associates began notifying affected individuals on June 15, 2026.
The breach took place on April 22, 2026. The company did not detect the incident until more than five weeks later on May 29, 2026.
The types of personal information exposed in the breach included Social Security numbers and financial account information.
Hunter Associates is offering free identity protection services through IDX. Affected individuals can sign up for the identity protection services by using the unique enrollment code included in their notification letter. The deadline to enroll is Sept. 15, 2026.
IDX representatives are available to answer questions and provide enrollment assistance Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
Hunter Associates has also set up a dedicated Incident Response Team to handle questions and concerns related to the breach.
