Centers Laboratory Data Breach: Driver's Licenses, SSNs, and More Exposed

Centers Laboratory, a healthcare diagnostics company headquartered in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, disclosed a data breach involving sensitive personal and health information.

The company disclosed the breach to the Vermont Attorney General on June 18, 2026, and posted a notice of the data privacy event on its website.

The total number of individuals affected nationwide was not included in the available filings.

Centers Laboratory discovered the breach on Aug. 25, 2025. An unauthorized actor gained limited access to and copied data from Centers Laboratory's systems between Aug. 9, 2025, and Aug. 14, 2025.

A detailed review of the compromised data was then conducted to identify the types of information involved and the specific individuals whose records were affected.

On Oct. 6, 2025, a threat actor known as Worldleaks posted a claim on the Tor dark web network, alleging that the actor had leaked corporate data from Centers Laboratory. According to the dark web posting, the exposed dataset reportedly included patient test records, laboratory reports, employee and staff information, diagnostic data and internal operational files.

The types of personally identifiable information and protected health information confirmed to have been exposed included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license or state identification number, passport numbers, health insurance information and medical information.

Centers Laboratory's response to the breach

Centers Laboratory encourages individuals to remain vigilant against potential misuse of their information. Specifically, Centers Laboratory recommends monitoring account statements, explanation of benefits statements and free credit reports for any suspicious or unauthorized activity.
