Caldwell Sutter Capital Inc., a Sausalito, California-based investment management firm, disclosed a data breach connected to its third-party service provider, FoxTrot LLC. The breach, which occurred in April 2026, affected 663 individuals in the United States.

On April 22, 2026, an unauthorized third party gained access to systems maintained by FoxTrot LLC, according to the company's notification to consumers. FoxTrot provides software solutions that support Caldwell Sutter Capital's back-office operations.

FoxTrot notified Caldwell Sutter Capital of the incident on April 29, 2026. Upon receiving this notification, the company began working with the vendor to understand the nature and scope of the incident, assess the impact on its data and confirm that steps were taken to contain and remediate the issue. The investigation remains ongoing.

The types of personal information exposed included names, account numbers, Social Security numbers and financial account codes.

The breach was reported to attorneys general in Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont. Caldwell Sutter Capital notified affected consumers on May 29, 2026.

Caldwell Sutter Capital's response

Caldwell Sutter Capital is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Experian IdentityWorks. The service includes credit monitoring across all three major credit bureaus, internet surveillance for personal information on the dark web, identity restoration support and $1 million in identity theft insurance.

Affected individuals can enroll by visiting the Experian IdentityWorks enrollment page and entering the activation code included in their notification letter. Enrollment must be completed by Sept. 30, 2026.
