Brinks Home, one of the largest smart home security providers in the United States, disclosed that it experienced unauthorized access to a portion of its IT systems.

According to the notice on its website, Brinks Home detected unauthorized access on a portion of its IT systems. Brinks Home activated its incident response procedures to contain the situation.

On July 24, 2026, a threat actor group known as ShinyHunters posted a claim on the dark web. The group alleged that it had obtained data from BH Security, the legal entity that operates Brinks Home. The dark web posting described the situation as an alleged breach in which the group claimed to have obtained the organization's data.

The specific types of personal information that may have been involved have not yet been determined as the investigation remains ongoing. The company stated that if it determines personal information has been compromised, it will notify those individuals.

Brinks Home's response to the breach

The company urged customers to remain vigilant against unsolicited emails, text messages, or phone calls requesting personal information or account credentials while the investigation continues. Brinks Home reminded customers that it "will never ask customers to provide sensitive information through unsolicited communications."

Brinks Home stated it will provide updates on its cybersecurity update page as they become available.
