
Bridgeport Capital Services Inc., a financial services company based in Coral Springs, Florida, recently disclosed a data breach involving sensitive personal information.
The breach was reported to the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation on Sept. 11, 2026. Consumer notification letters were mailed out on Sept. 11, 2026.
On Aug. 17, 2026, a ransomware group known as Play claimed responsibility for the attack on a dark web forum hosted on the Tor network. The group stated it had obtained the company's data and intended to publish it within four days.
The compromised data reportedly included private and personal confidential data, client documents, budget information, payroll records, IDs, tax information and financial records.
The types of personal information involved in the breach included first and last names, contact information (such as email addresses and phone numbers), Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, dates and/or places of birth and client business account numbers.
Bridgeport Capital Services is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Experian IdentityWorks. Affected individuals were provided with unique activation codes and enrollment instructions in their notification letters.
