Brandt Equities LP, a farming company based in Fargo, North Dakota, disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to its computer network during two periods in November 2025.
The breach was disclosed to the New Hampshire Attorney General on March 17, 2026, with two New Hampshire residents identified as affected. Brandt Equities LP began mailing notification letters to affected individuals on March 17, 2026.
An unauthorized party gained access to Brandt Equities LP's computer network on two separate occasions in November 2025, according to the company's notification to consumers.
The first period of unauthorized access occurred between Nov. 8, 2025, and Nov. 12, 2025. The second period took place between Nov. 20, 2025, and Nov. 22, 2025.
During both periods of unauthorized access, copies of certain files were taken from the company's network, according to the notification. The company reviewed the list of files that were affected. On Feb. 6, 2026, this review determined that one or more of those files contained personal information belonging to affected individuals.
The types of personal information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers. The exposure of Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers can make affected individuals vulnerable to identity theft and fraud.
After identifying unusual activity in its network, Brandt Equities LP took steps to secure it, according to the company's notification to consumers. The company also engaged an outside cybersecurity firm with experience handling similar incidents to assist with its investigation.
