BK Technologies Corporation, provider of public safety-grade communications products and services experienced a data breach. On or about Sept. 20, 2025, the company discovered suspicious activity within its internal IT network. An investigation was launched and early findings indicate that an unauthorized actor gained access to files containing sensitive information belonging to current and former employees.
This type of cyberattack often compromises both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Exposed information may include names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, health insurance information and financial account information.
BK Technologies disclosed the data breach to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Oct. 6, 2025. The estimated number of impacted current and former employees has not been released, but may be in the thousands.
Upon detecting the suspicious activity, the company isolated affected systems, launched an investigation with the help of external cybersecurity advisors and notified law enforcement. TBK Technologies believes the unauthorized party has been removed from its systems and normal access to information has been restored.
The company is continuing its investigation and will initiate a detailed review of the compromised data in order to identify all impacted individuals. In addition to making required state and federal disclosures, current and former employees and any other individuals affected by the cyberattack will be notified by mail.
