AssuranceAmerica Managing General Agency, LLC is an Atlanta-based company that manages non-standard auto insurance policies for higher-risk drivers.

A total of 6,998,886 individuals were impacted. Of which, 611,046 were South Carolina residents, 500,987 Texas residents, 237,141 Indiana residents, 8,950 Washington residents, 3,569 Massachusetts residents and 272 Vermont residents were reported as impacted by the breach.

The breach was reported to the California Attorney General and to the Nebraska Attorney General starting on June 17, 2026. The breach was discovered on March 17, 2026. Notification letters are being sent to affected individuals in June 2026.

On March 16, 2026, a cyberattack targeted one of AssuranceAmerica's employees. The company detected suspicious activity on part of its information technology systems the following day, on March 17, 2026.

According to the notification, an unauthorized third party gained access to the company's IT systems as a result of the targeted attack on the employee. During the incident, which spanned March 16 and March 17, the intruder copied a number of data files from the company's systems.

The company then conducted a review of the affected files to identify individuals whose personal information may have been contained within them.

The types of personal information exposed in the breach included names, contact information, automobile insurance policy or insurance account information, driver or vehicle information, claims-related information, driver's license numbers, government ID numbers, Tax ID information and Social Security numbers.

AssuranceAmerica's response

AssuranceAmerica is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX. Affected individuals can enroll by visiting the IDX enrollment page and entering the enrollment code provided at the top of their notification letter. A deadline to enroll will be included in each individual's letter.
