Between March 18 and March 24, 2024, ALN Medical Management, LLC experienced a significant data breach involving unauthorized access to sensitive consumer information. The breach was discovered in March 2024 when ALN identified suspicious activity on systems hosted by a third-party service provider.

Upon detection, ALN took action to secure the affected systems, isolate the compromised environment, and initiate an investigation.

The investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed and removed certain files and folders stored within ALN's third-party hosted environment. Following this discovery, ALN conducted a thorough review of the compromised files to determine the extent of the breach and identify affected individuals.

The breach exposed sensitive personal and financial data of at least 155,798 individuals in Texas alone, according to disclosures made to the Texas Attorney General's office. Additionally, on March 24, 2025, ALN Medical Management notified the Attorney Generals' offices of Vermont, California, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

On July 28, 2025, the company updated its disclosure with the Texas AG's office, increasing the number of Texans affected to 155,798 from 135,268.

Information Exposed:

  • Names of individuals
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Government-issued ID numbers (such as passports or state ID cards)
  • Financial information (such as account numbers, credit or debit card numbers)
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information

Given the sensitive nature of the exposed data, this breach carries a significant risk of identity theft, financial fraud, and potential misuse of medical information. Individuals whose data was compromised should remain vigilant and take immediate steps to protect themselves.

ALN Medical Management's response

To assist affected individuals, ALN Medical Management is offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through IDX. Individuals impacted by this breach have until June 21, 2025, to enroll in these services.

Enrollment can be completed by visiting the ALN Medical Management IDX enrollment page or by calling the dedicated assistance line at 1-877-720-6166 (available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Eastern Time, excluding U.S. holidays).

Individuals affected by this breach are strongly encouraged to:

  • Enroll in the complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services provided by ALN.
  • Regularly review financial statements and explanation of benefits statements for suspicious activity.
  • Obtain and review their free credit reports annually from the three major credit reporting bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion).
  • Consider placing a fraud alert or credit freeze on their credit files to prevent unauthorized credit activity.

Protect Your Data

A breach notice means your personal details could be circulating far beyond the organization involved. One practical step is continuous monitoring: services such as Identity Defender (included with an ExpressVPN subscription) can automatically check dark-web markets, flag new credit-file activity, and request removal of your information from data-broker sites.

This kind of “early-warning system” can’t undo a breach, but it can help you spot misuse quickly and limit further exposure. ExpressVPN is offering 61% off, risk-free for 30 days, with ID Theft Insurance included and no extra cost for those who sign up for one or two years.
