Individuals or their minor children who received notice that the August 2024 PRC-Saltillo data breach may have impacted their information could be eligible to claim up to $5,000 plus a share of any remaining funds from a class action settlement.

Prentke Romich Co. dba PRC-Saltillo agreed to pay $632,250 to settle a class action lawsuit alleging a targeted cyberattack exposed sensitive information, including names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, medical and insurance details and, in some cases, Social Security numbers.

Who can file a claim?

The settlement class includes all individuals whose information the August 2024 PRC-Saltillo data incident impacted and who received a notice about the data breach from PRC.

There is minor subclass that covers all settlement class members who were minors at the time of the data breach. Parents or guardians of minors who received a notice may file on their behalf.

How much can class members receive?

Class members can claim two types of awards:

  • Reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses up to $5,000. Out-of-pocket losses can include:
    • Unreimbursed losses from fraud or identity theft
    • Professional fees for attorneys, accountants, etc.
    • Credit repair service fees
    • Costs to freeze/unfreeze credit
    • Credit monitoring costs incurred after Aug. 1, 2024
    • Miscellaneous expenses (notary, postage, copying, mileage, etc.)
  • A pro rata cash payment from the remaining settlement fund after the settlement administrator pays all other expenses and claims. The settlement administrator will divide this amount equally among all class members who submit a valid claim.

If the total amount class members claim for out-of-pocket losses exceeds the available fund, the settlement administrator will be reduce payments proportionally.

In addition, minors automatically receive eight years of Minor Defense Pro identity monitoring (no claim form required).

How to claim a settlement amount

Class members can file a claim online or download, print and complete the PDF claim form and mail or email it to the settlement administrator.

What proof or documentation is required to submit a claim?

  • To file a claim, class members must provide the unique ID from their settlement notice. To file an online claim, class members must also provide the PIN from the same notice. Those who are unable to locate their ID and PIN should contact the settlement administrator by emailing info@PRCSettlement.com and providing their full name and mailing address.
  • To claim out-of-pocket losses, class members must submit documentation, such as receipts, bank statements or other non-self-prepared records. They may add notes to explain the documentation, but notes alone are not sufficient documentation.
  • To claim the pro rata cash payment, class members need only select the appropriate box.
  • Parents or guardians claiming on behalf of a minor must provide the minor’s name and notice ID.
  • Minors automatically receive identity monitoring and do not need to submit a claim for this benefit.

$632,250 settlement fund breakdown

The $632,250 settlement fund covers:

  • Attorneys’ fees: Up to $210,750
  • Attorneys' expenses: Up to $25,000
  • Service awards to class representatives: $3,000 each
  • Payments to eligible class members: Remainder of the fund

Important dates

  • Final approval hearing: Jan. 13, 2026

When is the PRC-Saltillo settlement payout date?

The settlement administrator will distribute payments approximately 60 days after the court grants final approval and resolves any appeals.

Why is there a class action settlement?

The class action lawsuit alleged a targeted cyberattack on PRC-Saltillo’s computer systems in August 2024 exposed sensitive personal and medical information.

PRC denies wrongdoing, but both sides agreed to settle to avoid the costs and risks of ongoing litigation and provide benefits to those affected.
