Henry Ford Health MyChart Privacy Class Action Settlement

If you were a patient of Henry Ford Health and had a MyChart patient portal account between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2023, you may be eligible to submit a claim for a $15 payment from a class action settlement.

Henry Ford Health has agreed to pay to settle a class action lawsuit. The class action alleged that Henry Ford Health disclosed confidential personally identifiable information (PII) and/or protected health information (PHI) to third-party technologies without patient consent.

Who is eligible for a privacy violation settlement payout?

Class members must meet the following criteria:

• They were a patient of Henry Ford Health residing in the United States at any time between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2023.
• They had a MyChart patient portal account with Henry Ford Health at any time during the designated class period.

How much is the class action payment?

• Cash Payment: All eligible class members who submit a timely claim will receive a $15 cash payment.
• Privacy Shield Pro: All eligible class members will automatically receive a code to enroll in Privacy Shield Pro which includes:

• VPN In Touch
• Password Scan
• Private Search
• Password Defense
• Digital Vault
• Data Broker Opt-Out services

How to claim a Henry Ford Health class action rebate

To receive the $15 cash payment, class members must submit a claim form by the deadline of August 25, 2025. Class members can file a claim online or print a PDF claim form to mail to the settlement administrator.

No claim form is required to receive the Privacy Shield Pro benefit.

Unique ID and PIN from official settlement notice required to submit a claim for the cash payment benefit.

Payout options

Class members submitting a claim for the $15 payment benefit must select from the following:

• Check mailed to the address provided
• Venmo
• PayPal
• Zelle

Privacy violation class action settlement fund

The settlement fund will include:

• Settlement administration costs: To be determined
• Attorneys’ fees and expenses: Up to $1,900,000
• Service award to class representative: $1,500
• Payments to claimants: $15 per valid claim
• Privacy Shield Pro: Cost to be determined

Important dates

• Final approval hearing: October 7, 2025

When is the Henry Ford Health settlement payout date?

Payments to approved claimants will be issued approximately 75 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement. Privacy Shield Pro instructions will be emailed to all class members approximately 60 days after final approval.

Why did this class action lawsuit settlement happen?

The class action lawsuit alleged that Henry Ford Health disclosed patients’ confidential PII and/or PHI to third-party technologies without obtaining patient consent. Henry Ford Health denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle in order avoid the cost and risk associated with continued litigation.
