What happened?

Zions Bancorporation, N.A. reported a data breach that may have affected thousands of customers. On Aug. 25, 2025, a hacking group known as Hider\_Nex claimed responsibility for a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack targeting Zions Bank’s website. DDoS attacks are known for disrupting customer or employee access to online services.

Proof of the downtime caused by the cyberattack was posted on a public Telegram channel. Zions disclosed the data breach to the Texas Attorney General's office on Sept. 9, 2025, reporting customer personal and financial information compromised.
