What happened?

Between Nov. 25, 2024, and Nov. 29, 2024, Watsonville Community Hospital experienced a ransomware attack claimed by a group known as TERMITE. The hackers stated they obtained the hospital’s database and even posted sample screenshots on their dark web portal.

The cyberattack compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). The hospital began notifying affected patients by mail on Oct. 15, 2025, and published a Notice of Data Privacy Incident on its website the same day.
