What Happened?
In August 2025, Valley Strong Credit Union was affected by a data breach through its third-party vendor, Marquis Software Solutions Inc., which provides digital and physical marketing services. On Aug. 14, 2025, Marquis detected suspicious activity and determined it was the victim of a ransomware attack. The breach was limited to Marquis’ environment and did not impact Valley Strong’s internal systems.
The investigation revealed that an unauthorized party accessed Marquis’ network and may have acquired files containing sensitive information. On Oct. 27, 2025, Marquis determined that personally identifiable information (PII) had been exposed.

The breach affected at least 1,640 individuals in Washington and 54 in Maine, with notifications sent to impacted consumers beginning Nov. 26, 2025. Marquis has stated there is no evidence so far of misuse of the exposed information.
