What Happened?

The company responded by stopping the activity and launching a forensic investigation with the help of third-party experts. The investigation determined that certain files were downloaded by an unauthorized actor.

After reviewing the affected files, United Underwriters confirmed that personal information was accessed and downloaded on May 1, 2026.

The specific types of information compromised as a result of the incident including the following:

• Driver's licenses
• Government ID numbers
• Social Security numbers
• Dates of birth
• Financial account information
• Medical records
• Health insurance information

The company began notifying affected individuals and reported the breach to the California Attorney General on Sept. 21, 2026.

A total of 77,894 individuals were affected.
