What Happened?
On March 11, 2026, Trio-tech International discovered a cybersecurity incident at one of its subsidiaries in Singapore.
The incident involved ransomware, which resulted in certain files on the company’s network being encrypted. Initially, management believed the incident was not material. However, by March 18, 2026, the situation escalated, leading to the unauthorized disclosure of company data.
The ransomware group known as Gunra claimed responsibility for the attack. They announced on the dark web on March 16, 2026, that they had obtained data from Trio-tech and intended to publish it. T
he company responded by activating its cybersecurity protocols, taking the affected network offline, and launching an investigation with third-party cybersecurity professionals. Law enforcement in Singapore was also notified.
At this time, Trio-tech has not confirmed the full scope of the data affected or the specific types of consumer information exposed. The investigation is ongoing, and the company is working with its cyber insurance provider to address the incident.
