About Total Wireless

Total Wireless is a no-contract, prepaid wireless carrier owned by Verizon. The company offers unlimited 5G plans using Verizon’s network and is marketed as a lower-cost alternative to Verizon’s postpaid service. Total Wireless is part of the Verizon Value portfolio, which includes other prepaid brands like Straight Talk, Visible, TracFone, Simple Mobile, SafeLink, Walmart Family Mobile and Verizon Prepaid.

What Happened?

On Dec. 10, 2025, Total Wireless learned from its identity verification service provider, Veriff, that an unauthorized party had accessed certain personal information of some Total Wireless customers. The breach itself occurred on Nov. 18, 2025. According to the official notices, the breach impacted only Veriff’s systems and did not affect Total Wireless’s internal systems.

A total of 8,583 people in the United States were affected, including 13 in Maine and 128 in Massachusetts. The company began notifying affected consumers in writing on Jan. 9, 2026.

  • Drivers licenses
  • Date of birth
  • Image of government-issued ID
  • Postal address

If you provided a government-issued ID to Veriff for a Total Wireless promotion, this information may have been accessed by the unauthorized party.
