On Sept. 19, 2025, The Thayer Hotel experienced unauthorized access to its computer systems. The breach was discovered and investigated with the help of third-party cybersecurity specialists. The company determined that personal information of individuals residing in the United States was impacted.

- Names
- Driver's license numbers
- Passport numbers
- Dates of birth
- State identification card numbers
- Social Security numbers
The company notified affected individuals and regulators beginning on Nov. 3, 2025, using a substitute notice. In total, 33,053 people in the United States were impacted, including 86 in Maine, 171 in New Hampshire, 1,826 in Texas, 11 in Montana and 1,048 in Massachusetts.
