About The Job Shop

Forest & Einstein Staffing, Inc. d/b/a The Job Shop is a privately owned staffing agency that has operated since 1986. The company is based in Kentucky and specializes in providing contract, permanent, temporary and temp-to-perm staffing solutions.

The Job Shop helps companies manage workforce fluctuations and business growth without committing to immediate full-time hires. The company matches local businesses with entry-level, skilled and professional talent through a variety of screening processes, including interviews, reference checks, skill evaluations, safety training, drug screening and E-Verify authorization.

What happened?

The Job Shop experienced a cyberattack involving sensitive personal information. On Aug. 14, 2025, a third-party IT vendor notified The Job Shop that an unknown threat actor had gained access to the company’s remote desktop server around mid-June 2025. This server, managed by the vendor, contained completed Forms W-2 for 2018, 2019 and 2020.

The threat actor may have exfiltrated some or all of these W-2 forms. A ransomware group known as PEAR claimed responsibility and posted about the incident on the dark web on Aug. 5, 2025.

The Job Shop and it's vendor could not determine exactly which forms were taken. The company began notifying impacted individuals by mail in Sept. 2025.
