What Happened?

On Aug. 4, 2026, AME, an IT vendor for Indiana University Health, discovered suspicious activity related to a previously unknown software vulnerability.

The incident affected an isolated legacy system used by IU Health in Southern Indiana. While there is no evidence that IU Health’s main network or core systems were impacted, an investigation revealed that limited and specific information related to certain patients’ radiology files was accessed through a third-party electronic medical record system.

The breach was the result of a ransomware attack, which was publicly posted on the open web on Aug. 5, 2026.

As a precaution, organizations relying on The Ame Group’s services, such as school districts, temporarily shut down their servers to prevent further risk.

Individuals affected by this incident began receiving notifications on Sept. 29, 2026. The following information was confirmed to have been exposed:

Information Exposed:

  • Names
  • Dates of birth
  • Health plan member identification numbers
  • Other limited treatment information associated with the imaging center
