What Happened?
TAK Broadband discovered suspicious activity in its network environment on Aug. 11, 2025.
An investigation, assisted by outside professionals, revealed that an unauthorized third party accessed certain TAK systems between Aug. 2, 2025, and Aug. 12, 2025, and acquired files containing personal information. The company completed its review of the affected files on Jan. 14, 2026.
The breach involved a ransomware attack by the group Qilin, which claimed to have obtained 228 GB of company data, including customer and staff financial statements, contracts, and invoices. The incident was posted on the dark web on Sept. 11, 2025.
The breach was reported to the California, Maine, and New Hampshire attorneys general on Feb. 19, 2026, and to the Vermont Attorney General on Feb. 20, 2026. Beginning Feb. 19, 2026, written notices were sent to affected consumers.
Information Exposed:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Driver's licenses/ state identification
In total, 20,648 people in the United States were affected, including four New Hampshire residents and one Maine resident.
