What Happened?
On Nov. 28, 2025, Southern Illinois Dermatology discovered that certain systems within its network had been affected by a cybersecurity incident. After learning of the issue, the company launched an immediate investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity professionals.
The investigation determined that files containing personal and protected health information may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized third party.
The breach was disclosed to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office on April 2, 2026. According to public filings, the incident affected at least eight people in Massachusetts.
The threat actor known as INSOMNIA claimed responsibility for the breach and posted about it on a dark web forum on Feb. 7, 2026.
