What Happened?
On Aug. 14, 2025, a third-party vendor used by Sound Community Bank for advertising and mailing experienced a cybersecurity incident. The vendor began investigating and responding to the incident immediately, involving law enforcement and cybersecurity experts. On Oct. 27, 2025, Sound Community Bank was notified that some client information may have been impacted.
Importantly, there has been no evidence of unauthorized activity within Sound Community Bank’s own internal systems. The breach was limited to the vendor’s environment.
Types of Consumer Information Exposed:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial and banking information
- Full date of birth
The bank disclosed the breach to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office on Oct. 29, 2025, and to the Washington Attorney General’s office on Nov. 19, 2025. According to official reports, four people were affected in Massachusetts and 5,503 in Washington.
