What happened?
In August 2024, Sax identified suspicious activity in its network environment. On Aug. 7, 2024, the company took immediate action to secure its systems and engaged cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident. After a thorough review, it was determined that unauthorized parties may have viewed or acquired certain personal information.
So far, the data breach has impacted at least 228,876 current and former Sax clients across the U.S., including 244 residents in Maine and 3,176 in Massachusetts.

The investigation concluded on Dec. 1, 2025, and affected individuals began receiving notifications shortly after. Sax disclosed the cybersecurity incident to the Attorney Generals' offices in California, Maine and Massachusetts on Dec. 22, 2025.

The company has also reported the breach to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is cooperating fully.
