The bank engaged third-party specialists to investigate and restore affected systems. During the investigation, Sawyer Savings Bank determined the disruption was likely the result of a data security incident caused by a vendor vulnerability.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and the bank has committed to notifying individuals that are determined to be impacted.
So far, the incident has compromised Social Security numbers.
