About Running Aces Casino

Running Aces Casino, Hotel & Racetrack is a gambling and entertainment venue located in Columbus, Minnesota, about 20 minutes north of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Since opening in 2008, the facility has offered a range of activities, including a Las Vegas-style card room, live harness horse racing, a hotel, trout fishing, and a full-service restaurant called Trout Air Tavern.

What Happened?

On or about August 12, 2025, North Metro Harness Initiative, LLC, doing business as Running Aces, discovered a data security incident that may have affected the security of personal information. The company launched an investigation, notified law enforcement, and engaged a national cybersecurity firm to assess the scope of the incident and assist with remediation.

A third party forensic investigation later determined that unauthorized access to certain systems occurred during a period ranging from approximately July 27, 2025, to August 14, 2025. The Qilin ransomware group claimed responsibility and posted evidence of the breach on their dark web portal on Sept. 8, 2025. So far, the data breach has impacted at least 17,937 individuals across the U.S.

The incident was reported to the Attorney Generals' offices in Maine and Massachusetts on Dec. 21, 2025, and to the New Hampshire Attorney General on Dec. 22, 2025. Impacted consumers have been notified by mail.
