What Happened?

On or around Aug. 25, 2024, RiteCheck discovered unusual activity within its computer systems. The company immediately implemented incident response protocols and hired independent forensic experts to investigate. It was determined that an unauthorized user had gained access to a RiteCheck server, potentially exposing sensitive information belonging to a subset of customers and employees.

Information Exposed:

  • Names
  • Addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Government-issued ID numbers
  • Payment card numbers

RiteCheck notified affected individuals in writing on July 28, 2025, and reported the breach to the Maine Attorney General’s office the same day. In total, 68,587 people in the United States were affected, including four residents in Maine.
