The Nitrogen ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack and posted about it on the dark web on July 15, 2025, stating they obtained personal data of clients, driver's documents, and vehicle documents.
On Jan. 9, 2026, Progressive Auto Group confirmed that files containing personal information had been compromised. The breach was disclosed to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office on Jan. 27, 2026.
