What Happened?
PIH Health experienced a data breach between Nov. 14, 2024, and Dec. 2, 2024. On Dec. 1, 2024, the company discovered unusual activity within its digital environment.
After securing the network, PIH Health launched an investigation and confirmed that an unauthorized actor had accessed certain files containing personal information.
A threat actor known as Dreamer2000 claimed responsibility for leaking PIH Health data and posted about the incident on the open web on Dec. 13, 2024.
Information Exposed:
- Name of individual
- Social Security Number Information
- Driver’s License number
- Financial Information (e.g. account number, credit or debit card number)
- Medical Information
- Health Insurance Information
The breach was reported to the California and Texas attorneys general offices. Additionally, PIH Health reported the incident on its website.
So far, 8,434 residents of Texas and 174 of Rhode Island have been impacted.
