What Happened?
PeopleCheck experienced a significant data breach after threat actors accessed its systems using compromised login credentials. The Everest ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack and stated they obtained 4.3 GB of SQL data from PeopleCheck between June 2024 and June 2025.
The ransomware group announced the breach on the dark web on June 23, 2025, threatening to publish the stolen data within a week.

On July 7, 2025, PeopleCheck notified its clients that their data may have been affected. By July 11, 2025, the company confirmed the scope of the breach and identified the impacted individuals.
