What Happened?

On Sept. 28, 2026, Pay Tel Communications disclosed a data breach affecting its systems to the Massachusetts Attorney General.

At this time, the exact dates of access, method of access or nature of the incident remain undisclosed.

Notably, on June 26, 2025, DragonForce, a ransomware group, posted on the dark web claiming it had obtained 398.63 GB of data from Pay Tel Communications. The group claimed responsibility for an attack on June 26, 2025, stating they had obtained nearly 400 GB of data, including video and audio call recordings, work-related documents, and scans of physical mail.

The company posted on its website on May 29, 2026, claiming they had identified and patched a security vulnerability in its system. It remains undisclosed if the incident disclosed to the state attorney general was related to the vulnerability.

According to the official disclosure, the breach exposed sensitive information belonging to individuals associated with Pay Tel.

So far, the incident has resulted in the exposure of Social Security numbers.
