What Happened?
On July 22, 2025, Nova experienced a cybersecurity attack that disrupted company operations. The company launched an investigation with the help of cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement.
Through this investigation, Nova determined that an unauthorized actor accessed its electronic infrastructure and deployed malware. The breach was discovered on Dec. 18, 2025.
The company conducted a thorough review and analysis of the impacted data. The specific types of data exposed have not yet been disclosed to the public; however, it has impacted personally identifiable information.
On Jan. 27, 2026, Nova Biomedical notified affected individuals in writing and posted a notice to its website. The incident was also disclosed to the attorneys general offices of Maine and Vermont.
A total of 10,764 people in the United States were affected, including eight in Maine.

- Report any suspicious activity or suspected identity theft to local law enforcement and the Federal Trade Commission
Under federal and state law, individuals have the right to obtain a copy of any police report filed in relation to this incident and may place a security freeze on their credit reports at no charge.
