Northwest Iowa Community College discovered unauthorized activity on its computer systems on Nov. 26, 2025. The breach occurred between Nov. 24 and Nov. 26, 2025. Upon discovering the incident, the college quickly secured its network and brought in third-party specialists to investigate.

- Social Security numbers
A total of 16,004 Iowa residents were affected by this breach. The college completed its review of the incident on May 29, 2026, and began mailing written notices to those impacted on July 8, 2026.
