North Oaks Health System is a major hospital and health care provider based in Hammond, Louisiana. Founded in 1960, North Oaks is one of the state’s largest community hospital organizations. The health system includes a 330-bed acute care hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, a 27-bed medical rehabilitation hospital, a freestanding surgical center, and two diagnostic centers. North Oaks also operates the region’s largest multispecialty provider clinic, three urgent care clinics, three outpatient rehabilitation clinics, two outpatient diagnostic and treatment centers, a hospice, and an extensive physician group offering both primary and specialty care.

What happened?

On June 4, 2025, North Oaks Health System discovered that a cybercriminal had gained access to its employee email network. The breach occurred over a period stretching from May 28, 2025, to June 5, 2025.

According to reports filed with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the incident affected at least 6,243 individuals. North Oaks is notifying affected patients by mail and posted a notice of cybersecurity incident on its website.
