What happened?
Naper Grove Vision Care experienced a massive data breach on May 24, 2025 involving a ransomware attack. On June 2, 2025, the group known as INTERLOCK claimed responsibility, stating they obtained 214 GB of the organization’s data, including 656,891 files across 32,971 folders.
The data breach was disclosed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on July 10, 2025, reporting at least 500 patients impacted. Naper Grove Vision Care also published a Notice of Data Security Incident on its own website.
The cybersecurity incident compromised both personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI).
